History

Founded in 1992, GLOBIS began as a one-room school, a set of translated Harvard case studies, and a single cell of entrepreneurial DNA. Driven by Yoshito Hori's intense energy, it has grown rapidly, with a unique approach to the challenges of business in Japan. Coursework is as rigorous as the Harvard program that inspired Hori, but with seasoned entrepreneurs and executives providing instruction, the accent is more on practice than theory. Both physically and intellectually, GLOBIS is located at the core of Japan's business, political, and media worlds.

MBA Programs

Part-time MBA Program

GLOBIS offers a part-time MBA program in both Japanese (GMBA) and English (IMBA). Courses are held on evenings and weekends, and are offered every quarter. To graduate, students are able to choose 24 courses out of the total 42 courses available. Students can therefore graduate in two years, or may take up to five years to graduate, depending on their individual needs. The curriculum is divided in three types of courses:

Full-time MBA Program

GLOBIS will launch its full-time MBA Program in October 2012. The duration of the program is set to 1 year and 48 credits are required to graduate. Courses are similar to those of the part-time program but are given during the daytime. Career and housing services are provided to full-time students as they are mostly coming from overseas. GLOBIS first participated in the QS MBA Tour in 2010 to provide details regarding the new program to potential students.

Admissions

There are four rounds of admissions for the MBA program. Potential students may apply during the September, November and January rounds.

Campus Locations

GLOBIS has 3 campuses located in Japan. The largest campus is located in Tokyo and offers both Japanese and English programs. The campuses in Osaka and Nagoya only offer Japanese courses. As GLOBIS has become the largest business school in Japan and has campuses in Japan's most important commercial cities, it is currently planning to build overseas campuses as well.

Students eager to learn more hold study sessions between classes to help deepen their understanding of the various subjects taught at GLOBIS. GLOBIS has a number of study rooms available which students are able to reserve.

Alumni Network

Even after graduation, GLOBIS Alumni continue to grow together through their human network. The GLOBIS mutual support network provides opportunities for alumni to meet regularly and share their ongoing business experiences. Alumni can also gather at periodic alumni events and at reunions held every 5 years.
